Drieëntwintig februari negentienhonderd zesenzestig is een dag om te onthouden omdat toen de journalistiek een gedaanteverwisseling kon ondergaan: journalisten hebben een onvervreemdbare plicht om het publiek eerlijk, hard en objectief te informeren; geen macht - ook niet vermomd als gezag of hiërarchie - kan of mag het uitoefenen van die plicht verhinderen. De toespraak van Maurice De Wilde was en is nog steeds een van de mooiste teksten over journalistiek en hoort te hangen aan de muur van elk redactielokaal, geflankeerd door De Rechten van de Mens.
